Blues Hawgfest for The Rutledge Youth Foundation Special Live Concert to Kick Start the 2012 Rutledge Youth Foundation’s Harley Raffle Saturday, May 26, 2012, "Blues Hawgfest", a special live concert, will kick off the 2012 Rutledge Youth Foundation’s Annual Harley Raffle. The Rutledge Youth Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist abused and neglected youth in becoming productive, independent members of society. This event is a collaborative event with the Illinois Central Blues Club. The event will be held from 7:00 PM until 12:30 AM at the Capitol City Bar and Grill, 3149 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, Illinois 62703. Bands scheduled to appear will include, Lady Carole and Her Knights, The Mojo Cats, Tombstone Bullet and Robert Sampson with Blues Gumbo. Music starts at 7:30 PM. All of the artists are donating their time and talent for this event. Admission to the concert is free. Harley raffle tickets will be available at the concert and donations to the Rutledge Youth Foundation will be accepted. Raffle tickets can also be acquired by contacting the RYF at 217-525-7757.

Lincoln Land Community College hosted blues musician Robert Sampson in a Blues in the School Program. Robert, who has twice been a finialist in the aclamined International Blues Challenge in 2008 and 2012, played several instruments and provided historical narratives to the music.
ICBC also wants to thank the Springfield Area Arts Council who provided partial funding of this program, and Taco Gringo, a sponsor of this year's Blues in the School Programs. |
